Mayme was 19 when she packed everything except her childhood faith, moved away from home, and pursued adulthood in a world that rarely mentioned God. Although successful in society’s eyes, time brewed an internal unrest as she muted God’s whispers within her soul.
Married and entering her thirties, she dusted off buried memories of faith for one reason only – she wanted a miracle. Thus began the naïve, self-centered communication with the miracle-performing God she learned about in grade school.
God took His daughter’s hand, cultivated the tiny seed of faith presented to Him, and stirred in her the desire to know what she did not know.
God Expects Me is the thought-provoking story of discovering friendship with God. It walks through the adventure of maturing spiritually via humorous, touching, educational, and necessary lessons learned by an ordinary Catholic who grew to embrace God as the reality of day-to-day life.
Whether you are only beginning to take His hand, are frustrated in your faith, want to better explain your beliefs, or simply want more, God Expects Me encourages you to let Him take you deeper into your relationship with Him. As the pages unfold, you may be surprised to find that you are the “Me” in God Expects Me.

“A wonderful, down-to-earth reflection about the invitation God extends to every human being: to be in an intimate love relationship with Him throughout our life in this world, so that we can share the gift of eternal life with Him in Heaven. In this easy to read little book, Mayme gently challenges all to do what Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI challenged us all to do when he called the entire Church to “open wide the door to Christ” and deepen your faith, which is about a relationship with the Living Person Christ, more than simply belief in a set of dogmas. God Expects Me helps open that door to a vibrant faith life for all who read it.”
